California Improvement Coffee: Quarterly Summit Follow-up

The California Improvement Summit ended on September 1. The work didn't. This is its quarterly follow-up: free, open to anyone who works on improvement in California, and virtual only, on Zoom. You don't need to have been in the barn, and you don't need to travel.

The plan (Pacific time; the core runs 10:00–11:30 a.m.)

• 9:45–10:00 · Connectivity check (optional). Test your Zoom audio and video and open the two boards we'll use.

• 10:00 · Welcome, announcements, and Impromptu Networking. A short, honest update on the Summit work, then quick conversations in pairs.

• 10:20 · Lean Coffee. Bring a topic and a thirty-second pitch. The room votes, and the top topics get the time.

• 10:50 · Breakouts. Small groups take the top topics or a Summit theme deeper and capture the work on the Miro board.

• 11:20 · Wrap-up and next steps. One question each: what will you try before the next session, and how will you tell us what happened?

• 11:30–11:45 · Overtime post-game (optional). Stay on the Zoom and keep talking.

This is a starting format, not a fixed one. We expect to adapt it to the needs of the work as it progresses, and we'll say what changed and why before each session.

Once a quarter this session takes the place of the Central Coast Virtual Lean Coffee. That brings four groups into one Zoom room: the Summit participants; the wider Summit community, everyone invited who has followed the work since; people new to improvement; and the Lean Coffee regulars. Whichever one describes you, you're welcome, and you don't need any background to take part.

None of it is required.

Second Wednesday of the quarter: November 11, 2026*, and February 10, May 12, and August 11, 2027. Register for each date you plan to attend. Eastern time: core 1:00–2:30 p.m., with the optional segments from 12:45 to 1:00 and 2:30 to 2:45 p.m.

*November 11 is Veterans Day. We will begin with a moment of thanks to those who have served.
