A New Way to Learn: Central Coast Lean's Hosting Model

After 25+ years in lean education and watching countless organizations struggle to send teams to public workshops, we've learned something important: the best learning happens where you work.

That's why Central Coast Lean is transforming how we deliver lean education. Instead of asking you to come to us, we're coming to you.
From Fixed Dates to Your Schedule
Traditional public workshops lock you into specific dates that rarely align with production schedules, project deadlines, or team availability. You coordinate travel, manage time away from operations, and hope the timing works for everyone who needs to attend.
Our hosting model flips this approach. Your organization provides the venue—whether that's a conference room, training space, or meeting area—and we handle everything else: expert facilitation, proven content, materials, and logistics. Most importantly, we work around your schedule, not a predetermined calendar.
Built for Team Learning
Here's what makes this different: when you host a workshop, you're not just sending individuals to get trained. You're creating a shared learning experience for your entire team in your own environment. The discussions happen with your colleagues. The examples come from your operations. The action items address your challenges.
The current structure is straightforward: organizations pay for three attendees and receive three additional seats at no charge. This "3+3" approach ensures you can bring the right mix of people—frontline staff, supervisors, and managers—without budget constraints limiting who participates.
Here's what makes this even more valuable: host organizations can open remaining seats to the broader community within parameters they establish. Want to exclude direct competitors? Set a maximum number of outside participants? Need to prioritize certain industries or partner organizations? We work together to define the constraints that make sense for your situation. This creates networking opportunities while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
What We Bring
Central Coast Lean delivers the same high-quality content and facilitation you'd expect from any premium workshop, but customized to your setting. Our workshops emphasize experiential learning over lecture. We focus on making work easier first, which naturally leads to better quality and faster processes.
Current offerings include A3 Problem Solving, Toyota Kata, New to Lean Fundamentals, and leadership development through 7 Habits integration. We're also developing specialized programs and custom workshop content based on organizational needs.
Why This Works
Organizations that host workshops report stronger engagement, better retention, and faster implementation of learned concepts. When training happens on-site, the barrier between "what we learned" and "what we do" essentially disappears. Teams can walk directly from the workshop to the floor and start applying principles immediately.
Plus, hosting creates visibility. When leadership sees the commitment to team development happening in real-time, it reinforces the cultural message that continuous improvement matters here.
Getting Started
If you're interested in hosting a Central Coast Lean workshop at your organization, or if you want to explore what this model might look like for your team, let's talk. We can discuss timing, content options, participant mix, and how to structure the experience for maximum impact.
The goal is simple: make it easier for your team to access world-class lean education. Because when learning happens where you work, improvement follows naturally.
